It Was All A Dream

I was born into a life,

I wouldn’t have chosen for myself.

Criticized, and judged;

they were just somethings I always felt.

My fathers’ calling to be a vessel,

came long before I.

And despite the repercussions, some decisions you can’t deny!

Expectations of perfection; based on decisions that were not mine.

Impatiently waiting for my deliverance; that would inevitably come with time.

And so it did, or so I thought;

at last my fate was now my own.

Silly me, still just a child;

the real world I had never known.

Little did I realize,

my daddy wasn’t wrong.

The preacher that had raised me,

had been guiding me all along!

Now looking back at my resentment;

Not everything is as it seemed.

The grass I’m standing in right now,

I know is just as green!

The certainty and desperation;

the better life I was searching for;

It was all a dream, just a myth;

From this life, I could not ask more!
