I Shall Lie Down and Pretend to Be Dying

A Silent Illness Only the Heart Understands

By Syed Umar Published about 14 hours ago 1 min read

I shall lie down and pretend to be dying.

Then the neighbors will come in to stare at me.

And my friends will gather around.

And perhaps she will come with them.

My beloved, the one I love.

She will look at me.

And she will know what is wrong.

When she comes.

I will not need a physician.

She knows why I am ill.
