Again
A dog returns to who it remembers, and stays.

Not everything that is forgotten is lost.

Her perfume wafts through my nostrils
Teases my -
Nose.
Again.
The rubber bone she left -
For me.Β
Hardy. Present.
Again.
I sniff her Chanel on the doormat.
I'm here.Β
π πΎ πͺ π€ π
She opens the door.Β
I jump on her.
She. Steps. Back.
I jump on her.
She. Walks. Back.
Again.Β
π πΎ πͺ π€ π
I see her.Β
She pats me -
Cautiously.Β
Her wrinkled hand
still on the door.Β
Ready -
To close.Β
π πΎ πͺ π€ π
I sit.
Offer the paw -
She taught me.Β
Again.Β
Gaze expectantly-
Again.
She nuzzles.Β
