The Message From My Future Self
It was 2:47 AM when my phone buzzed.
I opened one eye, annoyed. No one ever texted me at this hour.
Unknown Number.
I almost ignored it, but something felt… strange.
The message read:
"Don't go to work tomorrow."
I frowned. Probably a prank.
I typed back:
"Who is this?"
Three dots appeared instantly.
"I’m you. From six months in the future."
I sat up in bed.
Okay, definitely a prank.
"Yeah, sure. Prove it."
The reply came fast.
"You forgot to cancel your Netflix subscription again. Also, your left sock is under the bed."
My heart skipped.
I looked down.
Slowly, I leaned over the edge of the bed.
There it was.
My missing sock.
Cold chills ran down my spine.
"Okay… what’s going on?"
"You don’t have much time. Don’t go to work tomorrow. Trust me."
I stared at the message. My brain struggled to make sense of it.
"Why?"
No reply.
Minutes passed.
Then another message appeared.
"If you go, everything changes."
That was it.
No more texts.
I didn’t sleep that night.
The next morning, I sat at the edge of my bed, staring at my phone.
Was this real?
Or was I losing my mind?
My boss had already texted me asking why I wasn’t on my way.
I hesitated.
Then, for the first time in my life…
I didn’t go to work.
I stayed home.
Hours passed.
Nothing happened.
I felt stupid.
Until 11:38 AM.
My phone exploded with notifications.
Breaking News.
A major accident.
I opened the article.
My office building.
A gas explosion.
Several injured.
I froze.
My hands trembled.
I was supposed to be there.
My phone buzzed again.
Unknown Number.
"You see?"
I swallowed hard.
"You saved me."
"Not just you," the message replied.
"What do you mean?"
No response.
Then another message.
"This is where it starts."
"Starts what?"
"You’ll understand soon."
And just like that…
The number disappeared.
I tried calling back.
No signal.
No history.
Nothing.
It was gone.
That night, I couldn’t stop thinking.
Did I really text myself?
Was my future trying to change something bigger?
Days passed.
Then… it happened again.
Another message.
Same unknown number.
"Tomorrow. Go to the coffee shop at 4 PM."
My heart pounded.
I didn’t question it.
The next day, I went.
At exactly 4 PM, a girl walked in.
She looked around nervously.
Then she sat across from me.
"You got the messages too?" she asked.
My blood turned cold.
"You too?"
She nodded slowly.
"My future self told me to come here."
I realized then…
This wasn’t just about me.
Something bigger was happening.
And somehow…
Our future selves were trying to warn us.
But the real question was…
What were we about to face?
